The PTE Academic (Pearson Test of Academic English) test is a computer-based English test designed for students who wish to study in an English-speaking environment. The exam is recognized by institutions around the world.
To complete a PTE academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson testing center. You will use a computer and headphones to listen, read, and answer questions. During the two-hour test session, the test consists of three main parts: speaking and writing (together), listening, and reading.
During the test, you will find twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choice to essay writing and information interpretation. PTE Academic assesses real-life academic English, so you’ll hear excerpts from lectures and see graphs and charts. You’ll hear a variety of accents on the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you’ll be exposed to the kinds of accents you’ll encounter in everyday life.

International Pearson Tests of English exams are administered through a network of centers authorized by Pearson UK. These evaluations, oral and written, are sent to Edexcel for correction and qualification, ensuring excellence in quality and confidentiality standards. Students who pass the exams receive an international certificate issued by Edexcel, the largest exam center in England and accredited by Ofqual, England’s grading, exam and assessment body.
