In the PTE Academic exam, “Read Aloud” is one of the speaking tasks. It is a part of the “Speaking and Writing” section of the test. For the “Read Aloud” task, your speaking is evaluated in terms of three main aspects:
Content: This aspect evaluates whether you accurately read the text as presented on the screen. Your pronunciation, stress, and intonation should reflect the text’s meaning.
Oral Fluency: It assesses your ability to read the text smoothly and at a consistent pace. You should aim for natural and clear speech without unnecessary pauses or hesitations.
Pronunciation: This aspect evaluates the clarity of your speech. It considers whether you can pronounce words and sounds correctly, making your speech easily understandable to a native English speaker.
In the PTE Academic exam, each of these aspects is rated on a scale from 0 to 3, with 3 being the highest score. These scores are then combined to determine your overall score for the “Read Aloud” task. The maximum score for this task is 9. This score contributes to your overall PTE Academic score, which can range from 10 to 90, with 10-point intervals. Your overall score reflects your English language proficiency.
