This is the interface of the question; it is essential to familiarize yourself with the form because the exam does not warn you that they are changing the type of question. 

Remember what the type of question is and which question goes before and after because this will help you manage the exam time, which will optimize your performance on the exam. In addition, it is essential to learn the order of the questions.

After listening to the audio or seeing an image accompanied by audio, or watching the video, you must summarise in your own words. Thus, although obviously, the most important thing is to mention the most relevant elements of the text, in the same way, two different skills are evaluated simultaneously, on the one hand, the ability to understand what is spoken in the audio and on the other hand the ability to summarize with your own words.

The audio will start automatically. Sometimes the audio is accompanied by a picture for better understanding. After the audio clip ends, you will have 10 seconds to prepare. After 10 seconds, you will hear a short tone or beep. Start talking immediately after.

Be smart is the key of the success

  • Familiarize yourself with the question form; I mean how you will see it on the computer, see question style.

  • It is essential to take into account the aspects that are evaluated in these types of questions. For this reason, it is recommended to take as many keywords as possible, avoid placing connectors and pronouns, focus on adjectives, verbs and adverbs. In this way, you will guarantee the 5 marks of the content.

  • Don’t stop talking, don’t keep quiet, repeat the template if necessary.

  • Write a minimum of 25 keywords.

  • Write your notes consistently and effectively. Listen to the content words that convey vital information.

  • Identify the 3 most important keywords (kw).

  • Then organize them into groups of 3, regardless of coherence; this way, you can get the highest score in oral fluency.

  • Don’t worry about the spelling of the words, but make sure you understand the meaning.

  • In these types of questions, it is essential to ask a group of 3 keywords and focus on intonation.

  • You only have 10 seconds to prepare before the mic opens. Quickly review and connect the ideas in your notes.

  • Talk like you are angry. They are placing greater force in verbs and adjectives, reducing the voice in pronouns and connectors.

  • Remember that the evaluator is a computer that analyzes the peaks and valleys of the frequency of your voice.

  • Don’t read. Speak like a machine just repeating the words, focus on stressing the voice on the keywords.

  • Remember that, when speaking without stopping, if you do not know the pronunciation of a word, say it as you think it sounds best. Pronunciation is key to obtaining the 5 marks.

  • Remember that in this section, you are NOT evaluated for grammar; for this reason, if you want, you could only repeat the words you understood, but you would lose the marks of fluency.

  • Try to think in English when you speak. Do not translate from Spanish to English; remember that the order of the words changes.

  • The template is a suggestion; you can change the order or create one of your own; the important thing is to focus on the keywords and their pronunciation.

  • To obtain a perfect score, when speaking, it is recommended to follow the following template; in this way, you guarantee to get the highest score in fluency and content.
