Reading & writing: Fill in the blanks

This is the interface of the question; it is essential to familiarize yourself with the form because the exam does not warn you that they are changing the type of question. 

In this type of question, your ability to understand a text and select the most appropriate word is mainly evaluated. A text appears on the screen with different gaps, in which you are offered several options. You must choose the one that best corresponds and is consistent with the meaning and context of the paragraph.

Be smart is the key of the success

  • Exactly, the same advice from RFB.
  • Practice a lot of collocations are frequent
  • Focus on reading and understanding the entire text.
  • They will provide you with a text of no more than 300 words. You must select the most appropriate word according to the phrase.
  • Focus on the meaning and make the text sound harmonious.
  • The PTE is academic. Therefore more formal words are used.
  • Vocabulary is vital in this section.
  • Follow the parts of speech rigorously.
  • Eliminate options that you know are inappropriate in terms of meaning or grammatical context.
  • Discard those that have no match.
  • Please familiarize yourself with the question form; I mean, how you see it on the computer, see question style.
  • Read each sentence in your head several times, inserting each of the remaining possible options one by one. This will help you activate your knowledge of placement. Then, listen to how the sentence sounds and choose the option that sounds best in the sentence.
  • These questions require a lot of practice and reading; there are not many specific tricks that can help you more than those already mentioned.
  • Be very careful about time.
